Il Roccolo di Monticelli, oBelix

Coming from an agricultural background, Silvia Tezza always knew the importance of respectful agriculture and the need to preserve biodiversity. She therefore jumped at the chance to return home, after her studies, and take over a neglected plot of land owned by her family. Through dedication and the support from her aunt and uncle she has developed a vineyard using biodynamic practises creating the highest quality grapes and a strong connection to the land.

"Roccolo" is the term to identify an old hunting lodge and here two of these ancient structures watch over the vines.

The beautiful enclosed vineyards are situated on the hills of the Vallata di Mezzane, eastern Valpolicella, near Verona and Lake Garda. Vines' age is between sixty to ten years for the red varieties and sixty to thirty years for the whites. The soils are mixed with a predominance of limestone deposits and the presence of clay rich in iron. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand and minimal amounts of copper and sulfur are used only when necessary. No additives or sulphites are added at any stage.
