Staffelter Hof, Little Bastard
A wine that has developed a loyal following and for good reason. It gets its name from the unusual blend of Riesling, Sauv Blanc, Müller Thurgau and Muscat. The result is a mind-opening but joyous wine - it is cloudy, a little fizzy, a little wild, has aromas of flowers and apricot yoghurt, with mouth watering acidity, and a unique zestiness that pervades from start to finish.
Grapes: Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Müller Thurgau, Muscat
Place: Mosel, Germany
Made by Jan Klein, the latest generation at the helm on this historical estate which has been in the family since 1805, but operating as a winery since 862. Jan started to produce a special range of wines with no added sulphites in 2014, a range that has now expanded to nearly ten singular wines.
